WKXY Hits Lists 1970-1979, Sarasota, Florida

WKXY 930am Sarasota, Florida, Top 40 Radio. This part of my website is dedicated to my fellow baby-boomers who grew up on am radio in the 70s(That's 1970s not 1870s). With the advent of internet radio I heard many of those songs in stereo for the first time. In the future I will be posting the official WKXY hit lists from the middle of 1970 to 1979.

As I review the Billboard Top 40 for the 1970s, I realize that many of the popular songs in Sarasota did not do well on the national charts. The lists include many follow-up songs to chart busting songs. (i.e.: What was the follow-up song to Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)"? Answer: "She Works In A Woman's Way" followed by "It's Up To You Petula" and then "What's Happening?") Also there are a great many records that did well in the UK that were never hits in the US or were covered by other artist. One such example from 1975 is the pop hit "Love Hurts" by Jim Capaldi that reached number 4 in the UK and number 97 in the US but the group Nazareth reached number 8 in the US but did not chart in the UK. If you ever get a chance to hear the UK hit it is very different.
